The service advisor at the closest dealership refused quite vocally to good-will a RVM., even though the paperwork I have for this pre-owned vehicle suggested I was still in warranty. The day/night lever in the rearview mirror on my current car (non-Infiniti) squeaked only when temperature got extremely cold, should have been covered under 3 year bumper to bumper warranty, there was some confusion with when the car was put in service when the warranty clock started, the difference was two week. I do a lot of driving, including several hours on the highway and I'm sure I would have been rear ended or told earlier if none of my brake lights were functioning, which leads me to believe this occurred right after the dealership. Is it possible this relay became knocked out of the engine bay during the course of normal driving? I am the only one with keys so I can guarantee no one had been able to open the engine compartment aside from the dealership. Would a car technician really steal a $30 relay? Especially a relay that would so clearly be recognized as missing? My main concern being whether the dealership took my relay. Now this isn't a lot of money, but I'm more concerned about making sure I'm not being screwed here. Im quoted at ~$150 for a diagnostic + ~$30 for the relay. Eventually I get an email that my Infiniti is missing a relay in the engine bay that allows the brake lights to work. This is obviously quite a shock so I head back to the dealership and drop the car off. Later that day I'm driving and someone pulls up beside me and tells me all of my brake lights are out. Bring it in to the dealership and they run a diagnostic(?) test but can't figure out the issue quickly and tell me I'll need to drop it off later. Turned on the car in the morning and got an alert that the rear sensors were malfunctioning.
